Description
We present a unique opportunity in Azeitão: land for the construction of detached villas, semi-detached or Quinta, inserted in one of the noblest areas of the region.
Total area of the land: 10,256sqm
Premium location: next to the prestigious Casas de Azeitão, in a quiet and valued area
This space offers a rare combination of tranquility, prestige and excellent accessibility, ideal for quality residential projects or for those seeking to develop an exclusive concept in one of the most sought-after locations on the southern shore.
Azeitão owes its name to the ancient times, when Romans and Arabs cultivated and took the best advantage of these fertile lands. The unique climate provided by the mountains and its proximity to the sea, together with the soils, made it possible to plant a vast olive grove here. At that time, it was responsible for the production of a rich olive oil, which ended up baptising the region of Azeitão.
In addition to olive oil, clay pieces, tiles and wines with particular characteristics were also produced here, but it was mainly through the friars of Arrábida that, along with liqueurs, the region began to be more linked to the cultivation of vines, such as the wines of Quinta e Palácio da Bacalhoa, or the José Maria da Fonseca Cellars, the oldest producer of table wine and Moscatel de Setúbal in Portugal.
Azeitão was the seat of a county extinct on October 24,1855 and integrated into the county of Setúbal. It is formed by the former parishes of São Lourenço and São Simão that encompassed the villages of Vila Nogueira de Azeitão, Brejos de Azeitão, Vendas de Azeitão and Vila Fresca de Azeitão.
They share the name "of Azeitão", thanks to the extensive olive groves that, in the Arab era, dominated those places.
The lands of Azeitão embodied by these two ancient parishes, now unified, have been since the foundation of the Kingdom of Portugal an integral part of the county of Sesimbra
The whole main street, is an invitation to enjoy the traditional commerce, here with a strong historical and artistic component, where we highlight some antique shops.
As a place of excellence of wines, there are numerous guided tours of wine tourism; among these, the house-museum José Maria da Fonseca, where you can know the 180 years of history of this family and the company owner of the oldest brand of Portuguese wines and taste the famous Moscatel de Setúbal or taste a Periquita.
Next to the national road 10 the Quinta da Bacalhôa, is another must-see place for a visit, where in addition to enjoying the wines, you can enjoy a guided tour, loaded with cultural elements.
